What can go wrong?
Digestive symptoms such as nausea, abdominal discomfort and diarrhea are the most common problems. NCCIH recommends discussing use with a healthcare professional when medicines are involved. 1
Cochrane also flags possible increased bleeding with warfarin and notes that the eczema trials did not establish long-term safety. 2
Pregnancy is a separate question
Studies of using the oil to start labor have inconsistent results, and long-term safety for that use has not been established. Pregnancy and breastfeeding safety evidence is not conclusive. 1
For information, not individual medical advice. Ingredient studies do not establish the effectiveness of these products.
