A reproductive-safety signal
A separate rat experiment used 18, 50 or 100 mg/kg daily for 28 days. Testicular biochemical measures changed in ways the authors considered adverse; recovery after withdrawal was mainly seen at the lowest dose. These findings raise concern without proving infertility in people. 1
No visible illness did not mean no changes
Another 28-day rat study found biochemical changes consistent with liver and kidney cell-membrane injury, even though the animals showed no obvious distress or deaths. It does not establish the frequency or severity of human injury, or a safe human dose. 2
