Peppermint oil is the essential oil distilled from the leaves of peppermint, Mentha × piperita. Its main component is menthol.
Why does the capsule coating matter?
Enteric-coated capsules release beyond the stomach and may reduce reflux or indigestion side effects. Peppermint leaf has much thinner evidence; tea is not an equivalent substitute. 1
