What has oral safety testing covered?
In a placebo-controlled study of 22 healthy men, escalating doses reached 200 mg daily for 28 days. Routine laboratory findings and hormone levels were generally unchanged, with no significant group difference in minor adverse events. This small study cannot settle long-term safety. 1
Who remains poorly represented?
Weight-loss trials excluded pregnant or breastfeeding participants and people with several chronic illnesses. Their reassuring short-term adverse-event reports do not answer safety questions in those groups. 2
Competitive sport has a clear rule
WADA’s 2026 list explicitly prohibits 7-keto-DHEA at all times, within the anabolic-agent category. This applies beyond competition days. 3
