Agmatine is a compound the body forms from the amino acid arginine. It is mainly studied for its role in nerve signaling.
What adverse effects were reported?
An initial dose-escalation study reported diarrhea and nausea in three participants at the highest dose. 1
What does long-term follow-up establish?
Two authors monitored their own use of 2.67 g/day for four to five years and reported normal clinical and laboratory assessments. Such self-observation cannot establish population-wide safety or reliably exclude uncommon harms. 2
For information, not individual medical advice. Ingredient studies do not establish the effectiveness of these products.
