Fatty acid
Butyric Acid
Butyric acid (butyrate) is a short-chain fatty acid produced when gut bacteria ferment fiber. It also occurs in butter and other dairy fats.
What does microencapsulated mean here?
The combination trial used a coating designed to release sodium butyrate in the colon. Each capsule contained 300 mg of microencapsulated material, equivalent to 150 mg sodium butyrate; two capsules daily supplied 300 mg sodium butyrate. This illustrates why the encapsulated-material weight and active-ingredient weight on a label are not interchangeable. 1
