Does “enzyme” mean risk-free?

The PANCREAZE label warns about allergic reactions to porcine proteins and rare bowel narrowing associated with high doses, particularly in children with cystic fibrosis. These are warnings for a prescription pancreatic enzyme medicine, not an estimate of risk for all supplement blends. 1

No product-related adverse events were reported in the small 60-day blend trial. Its short duration and sample size cannot establish long-term safety or exclude uncommon reactions. 2

For information, not individual medical advice. Ingredient studies do not establish the effectiveness of these products.
