Docosapentaenoic acid

Docosapentaenoic acid (DPA) is a long-chain omega-3 fatty acid that sits between EPA and DHA in the body's metabolism. It occurs in fatty fish and fish oil.

Also listed as DPA, Clupanodonic acid, DPA (Docosapentaenoic acid)

Is there an established safe supplement dose?

The human metabolism study was brief and involved only ten women. It cannot establish safety for years of use or during pregnancy. 1

The later paper explicitly notes a lack of evidence for a tolerable upper intake of DPA alone. Its experimental dosing should not be read as a routine intake recommendation. 2
