Gelatin
Gelatin is a protein made by processing collagen from animal skin, bones and connective tissue. It dissolves when heated and sets into a gel when cooled.
The animal source can matter
Some people with alpha-gal syndrome react to gelatin made from beef or pork. Sensitivity varies, so CDC recommends working with a healthcare provider to identify individual triggers. Gelatin may also appear in medicines; its presence does not mean everyone with alpha-gal syndrome will react. 1
Small experiments cannot settle long-term safety
The exercise studies involved only eight and ten men and focused on short-term biological responses. They cannot establish the safety of sustained high-dose use across different ages and medical conditions. 2 3
