RIVM’s assessment concerns Huperzia serrata preparations. It identifies huperzine A as the best-studied constituent, while noting that other compounds may also inhibit acetylcholinesterase and amplify its action. A whole extract therefore cannot be assumed equivalent to a defined amount of isolated huperzine A. 1
