Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid, also called hyaluronan, is a compound the body makes itself and is present in skin and joint fluid.
Also listed as Hyaluronan, Hyaluronate (as sodium or potassium salt)
What do product names tell you?
Sodium hyaluronate was the form tested at 60 and 120 mg in the newer trial. That study used one molecular size, so it does not establish a universally best molecular weight or dose. 1
Fermentation or animal material?
Products may use fermented material or animal-derived sources such as rooster combs. German consumer guidance also notes that health claims for hyaluronic acid itself are not authorized; added vitamins may account for a label’s skin claim. 2
