Magnesium Threonate

Magnesium L-threonate is a chemically manufactured salt of magnesium and threonic acid, a breakdown product of vitamin C, used as a magnesium source in supplements.

When does magnesium need extra care?

Supplemental magnesium can cause diarrhea, nausea, and cramps. Impaired kidney function raises the risk of toxicity because less magnesium is removed. Magnesium can reduce absorption of certain antibiotics and oral bisphosphonates; medication-specific timing should be discussed with a clinician or pharmacist. 1
