Phenylethylamine

Phenylethylamine (PEA) is a trace amine that the body makes from the amino acid phenylalanine. It occurs in small amounts in foods such as chocolate.

Also listed as PEA, β-phenylethylamine, phenethylamine, β-phenethylamine

Why does concurrent selegiline matter?

Selegiline changes the breakdown of PEA in the reported treatment. The combination therefore cannot be treated as equivalent to an ordinary PEA supplement taken alone. 1
