Soy Isoflavones
Soy isoflavones are plant compounds in soybeans, mainly genistein, daidzein and glycitein. Because they resemble estrogen in structure, they are called phytoestrogens.
Also listed as Genistein, Genistin, Daidzein, Daidzin
Extract weight is not the same as isoflavone content
The hot-flash review expressed doses as aglycone equivalents, a common basis for comparing different chemical forms. Its findings also varied with formulation. A label giving only total soy-extract weight does not provide the same information as an isoflavone amount. 1
