Allergy and digestive tolerance come first

Soy can cause allergic reactions, and soy products can cause bloating, diarrhea or nausea. NCCIH reports that soy protein supplements have been used safely for up to sixteen weeks in studies; longer-term supplement use needs its own safety assessment. 1

Ordinary foods and concentrated use are different questions

NCCIH cautions that amounts beyond normal food use may be unsafe during pregnancy and are poorly studied during breastfeeding. It also advises discussing soy products with a clinician when medicines are involved. 1
