A food portion can supply a useful amount
Health Canada gives illustrative examples of 150 g tofu supplying 70% and 250 mL fortified soy beverage supplying 30% of the 25 g daily amount used for its cholesterol claim. Those rounded examples correspond to roughly 17.5 g and 7.5 g soy protein; actual products differ. 1
Total protein matters more than a special soy quota
DGE recommends 0.8 g total protein per kilogram body weight daily for healthy adults aged 19–64, with an estimated adequate intake of 1.0 g/kg from age 65. These reference values use normal body weight and concern all protein sources together. 2
