The interaction that matters most
Vitamin K can dangerously alter treatment with warfarin or phenprocoumon. Consistent intake matters; changes in food or supplements should be discussed with the treating clinician. 1
Is there an upper limit?
The US Food and Nutrition Board has not set an upper limit because toxicity is low. That does not remove the anticoagulant interaction. 1
Pregnancy and newborns are different situations
DGE lists 60 µg daily during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Newborn prophylaxis addresses a distinct risk of vitamin K deficiency and is not interchangeable with an adult dietary target. 2
