Enzyme
Alpha-Galactosidase
Alpha-galactosidase is an enzyme that breaks down certain complex sugars in beans and some vegetables. Supplement versions are usually produced by fungi.
The meal and activity units matter
The positive adult trial gave the enzyme with foods high in GOS and reported doses in GALU, units of enzyme activity. This is why a product’s activity and intended food target are more informative than a milligram amount alone. Monash places this approach after identifying individual FODMAP sensitivities, with the aim of making a broader range of foods tolerable. 1 2
