Apigenin
Apigenin is a plant flavonoid found in parsley, celery and chamomile, and is mostly studied for sleep.
Also listed as Biapigenin
What can the safety data tell us?
The chamomile trials mostly used passive reporting of adverse effects. Their lack of reported events cannot establish long-term safety for isolated apigenin. 1
If the product also contains chamomile
Chamomile can cause allergic reactions, particularly with related-plant allergies. Reported interactions include warfarin; interactions with sedatives are also possible. Pregnancy and breastfeeding safety information is limited. These cautions concern chamomile products. 2
For information, not individual medical advice. Ingredient studies do not establish the effectiveness of these products.
