Amino acid
Asparagine
Asparagine is a non-essential amino acid that the body makes itself. It was the first amino acid ever isolated, from asparagus juice.
A safety gap, not a proven safe dose
A Norwegian risk assessment from 2011 placed asparagine in a moderate potential-risk category because of biological activity and limited safety research. It found too little human adverse-effect evidence to establish upper limits for individual amino acids. That assessment is not proof that ordinary dietary asparagine is harmful. 1
