Amino acid

Asparagine

Asparagine is a non-essential amino acid that the body makes itself. It was the first amino acid ever isolated, from asparagus juice.

What cancer-cell experiments show

A 2016 laboratory study found that asparagine helped cancer cells exchange amino acids and supported signaling involved in growth and protein synthesis. These experiments help explain cellular metabolism; they did not test whether supplements cause cancer or whether dietary restriction treats it in people. 1
