Bee pollen

Bee pollen is flower pollen that bees collect and pack with their own secretions. Its nutrient makeup depends on the plants it comes from.

Origin matters, and so does contamination

BfR identifies bee products, including pollen, as possible carriers of 1,2-unsaturated pyrrolizidine alkaloids from certain plants. These compounds can damage the liver. Plant origin and contaminant control therefore matter alongside any advertised nutrient content. 1
