Beetroot powder
Beetroot powder is dried, ground beetroot, Beta vulgaris. Beetroot is naturally rich in nitrate.
Also listed as Beta vulgaris, Beet Root, BeetRoot, Beet Root Powder
What has short-term use shown?
NIH reports no identified safety concerns with moderate juice intake, around two cups daily, over several weeks. Beet pigments can turn urine pink or red. Those observations do not establish the safety of every concentrated powder or prolonged high intake. 1
Where do the safety comparisons stop?
LAVES explains that nitrate levels depend on the vegetable and cultivation conditions. Its food-monitoring findings concern foods, not a universal safe dose for sports supplements; neither a vegetable concentration nor a juice-study dose defines a powder limit. 1 2
