Does it improve endurance?
A 2017 systematic review examined 23 articles on beetroot juice and cardiorespiratory endurance in athletes. It found encouraging results for using less oxygen at a given workload and time to exhaustion, alongside contradictory findings. The intervention was juice, so this is relevant background rather than direct proof for every powder. 1
Juice trials show potential endurance benefits, with variable results and uncertain transfer to powder. 1
Why does the measurement method matter?
A meta-analysis of 13 trials with 325 adults studied nitrate or beetroot juice for one to six weeks. Average reductions were 4.1 mmHg systolic and 2.0 mmHg diastolic, but significant changes occurred only in clinic measurements. Home and 24-hour monitoring did not confirm them. 2
That distinction limits a simple blood-pressure promise. These short trials also do not establish that a particular beetroot powder prevents cardiovascular disease. 2
