Botanical
Chrysin
Chrysin is a flavonoid, a type of plant polyphenol, found in honey, propolis and passionflower.
Also listed as Propolis, Honey extract, Passiflora caerulea Linn
Why does absorption matter?
In seven healthy volunteers given 400 mg, very little unchanged chrysin reached the blood. This single-dose experiment helps explain why laboratory concentrations may not be achievable with conventional oral products; it is not a dosing recommendation. 1
What about newer formulations?
A 2025 crossover study in 16 healthy adults found more chrysin reaching the blood with a micellar chrysin-quercetin-rutin blend. Better absorption does not itself show a hormone benefit. Commercial ties and a pending formulation patent were disclosed. 2
