Does grapefruit make weight loss easier?
A systematic review pooled three randomized trials involving 250 adults with overweight or obesity. The average weight difference was 0.45 kg in favor of grapefruit, but was not statistically significant. The trials were few and short, leaving no established minimum effective dose. 1
These small trials did not establish a weight-loss advantage; the result does not support a grapefruit-based weight-loss prescription. 1
Was there any encouraging result?
The same review found systolic blood pressure about 2.4 mmHg lower with grapefruit. That modest finding comes from a limited evidence base and needs confirmation. 1
