Short-term tolerance leaves important gaps
The diabetes tea trial reported no hypoglycemia or adverse kidney, liver or gastrointestinal effects. That experience in a small adult group cannot establish safety for long-term use, children or pregnancy. 1
Diabetes combinations were monitored in a trial
The gliclazide study monitored glucose and organ-function tests and excluded pregnancy and breastfeeding. Its results show why combining jiaogulan with glucose-lowering medicine is a clinical question: the combination changed blood glucose, and the trial does not establish safety for unsupervised use. 2
