Phosphorus
Phosphorus is an essential mineral, stored mostly as phosphate in bones and teeth. It occurs in dairy, meat, fish and grains.
How much is enough?
Germany’s DGE gives an adequate-intake estimate of 550 mg daily for adults, including adult pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is a total dietary reference, not a supplement dose. 1
Familiar foods supply it
NIH lists 245 mg in a 6-ounce container of plain low-fat yogurt, 214 mg in 3 ounces of cooked farmed Atlantic salmon, and 178 mg in half a cup of boiled lentils. 2
