Fatty acid
Short-Chain Fatty Acid
Short-chain fatty acids, or SCFAs, are compounds gut microbes produce when they ferment certain fibers. Butyrate, propionate and acetate are the main examples.
Fiber and tributyrin are different approaches
Resistant starch feeds microbial fermentation; tributyrin supplies a butyrate precursor. The pilot tested 200 or 400 mg daily of one complex, not a universal SCFA dose. 1 2
