Vitamin
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 is an essential water-soluble vitamin with several forms, including pyridoxine and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, found in fish, poultry, potatoes and bananas.
Also listed as pyridoxine, pyridoxamine, pyridoxal, pyridoxal phosphate
Which names count as B6?
Labels may list pyridoxine hydrochloride, pyridoxal 5-phosphate or its monohydrate. B6 can also appear in magnesium or zinc products, so the daily total may involve several supplements. 1
Does an active form avoid the upper limit?
EFSA’s assessment covers all B6 sources authorized for addition to food and supplements. An “active form” label does not remove a product from that safety assessment. 2
