Zeaxanthin is a yellow-orange plant pigment in the carotenoid family, occurring alongside lutein in foods such as corn and egg yolk.

What does AREDS2 mean on a label?

The NEI lists 2 mg zeaxanthin with 10 mg lutein, vitamins C and E, zinc and copper in the AREDS2 formula. A capsule containing only zeaxanthin is therefore a different intervention. 1
