Pentadecanoic Acid
Pentadecanoic acid, or C15:0, is an odd-chain saturated fatty acid found in small amounts in dairy fat and some fish and plants.
What do food studies tell us?
In a crossover study of 30 healthy young adults, a dairy-rich diet raised C15:0 in one blood-fat fraction more than meat- or grain-rich diets. This helps explain its use as a dietary biomarker, but does not turn a blood measurement into a supplement prescription. 1
