Algae

Algae are a diverse group of mostly aquatic organisms that live by photosynthesis, from single-celled microalgae such as chlorella to large seaweeds.

If the goal is omega-3, look for DHA and EPA

Algal oils usually provide around 100 to 300 mg of DHA per supplement serving; some also provide EPA. These are specific omega-3 fatty acids, and amounts differ across products. NIH advises checking the label for the type and quantity rather than relying on the total weight of oil. 1
