Chlorogenic Acid

Chlorogenic acid is a polyphenol found in coffee beans. Roasting reduces it, so concentrated extracts are made from unroasted green coffee beans.

The amount of green-coffee extract, its chlorogenic-acid content and its caffeine content describe different things. NIH notes that decaffeinated extracts exist; “green coffee” alone does not establish that a product is caffeine-free. 1
