Fructose

Fructose is a simple sugar found mainly in fruit and honey. Table sugar is half fructose and half glucose.

Fruit and free sugars are different categories

EFSA classifies sugars in intact fruit separately from free sugars. Free sugars include added sugars and those in honey, syrups, fruit juices and concentrates. This distinction matters when interpreting advice about dietary sugar. 1

A food-table example

A review reproducing USDA composition data lists 5.9 g fructose per 100 g of raw apple with skin. 2
