Does correct plant identification remove the concern?
Early liver-injury reports were sometimes attributed to confusion with Tinospora crispa. LiverTox describes subsequent evidence involving T. cordifolia itself. Correct identification matters, but the name cordifolia is not a guarantee of liver safety. 1
Is a tea automatically gentler?
In its 2013 assessment, BfR could not establish the safety of guduchi teas because composition and toxicological data were inadequate. It noted animal findings involving male fertility, immunity and blood glucose, while explicitly leaving their relevance to tea infusions unresolved. 2
