How serious can the injury be?

Reported injury ranges from raised liver enzymes to hepatitis and acute liver failure, including fatal cases. Onset has occurred after a few weeks to six months. Existing liver disease appears to increase both frequency and severity; cases have also been reported in Germany and other countries outside India. 1

What else has been reported?

Other reported effects include nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, dizziness, headache and rash. The absence of major problems in an early short trial does not outweigh later evidence of severe injury. 1
