Protein
Lactoferrin
Lactoferrin is an iron-binding protein found in human and cow's milk, saliva and tears. It is studied for its roles in microbial defense and inflammation.
Is microencapsulation better?
The small pilot found more bovine lactoferrin in stool after microencapsulated supplementation, but that difference was not statistically significant. Its size and marker-based outcomes do not establish clinical superiority. 1
What does “bovine” mean on a label?
Bovine lactoferrin comes from cow’s milk. EFSA assessed a purified food ingredient for specified uses and levels; that safety assessment is not evidence that every marketed health claim is effective. 2
