Phosphatidylcholine
Phosphatidylcholine, or PC, is a phospholipid used in cell membranes. Lecithin is a mixture rich in PC, not another name for pure PC.

Count choline separately from PC
High choline intake can cause fishy body odor, vomiting and low blood pressure. The US adult upper limit is 3,500 mg of choline daily from food and supplements, not 3,500 mg of PC. 1
What about TMAO?
In a crossover study of 37 healthy men, meals supplying choline as PC did not raise TMAO as choline bitartrate did. TMAO is a gut-microbe-related metabolite studied as a cardiovascular risk marker. This single-meal comparison measured a marker, not heart attacks or long-term safety. 2
