What do short trials tell us?
Health Canada’s assessment of soy-derived PS found reassuring short-term trial data and derived a recommended maximum daily intake of 300 mg for its use as a supplemental food ingredient. This Canadian assessment does not cover PS from other sources and is not a dose proven to prevent dementia. 1
What remains uncertain?
Long-term use is poorly studied. The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation notes possible blood-pressure effects and bleeding concerns, and recommends discussing a new supplement with a physician. 2
