What makes reishi interesting?

Reishi, Ganoderma lucidum, contains beta-glucan polysaccharides and triterpenes. Laboratory and animal studies suggest immune-modulating and anti-inflammatory activity. These findings explain the research interest without establishing a clinical benefit on their own. 1
