Usually mild does not mean risk-free

A 2026 safety review found mainly gastrointestinal complaints, including nausea and abdominal discomfort, along with reports such as altered dreams. Safety reporting was incomplete in many trials, so the review cannot establish a reliable long-term safety ceiling. 1

Blood thinners deserve a medication check

The review describes a bleeding case involving saffron and rivaroxaban. One case cannot establish how often an interaction occurs, but it supports checking concentrated saffron products with the treating clinician when anticoagulants are used. 1

What is known during pregnancy?

The stress trial excluded pregnant or breastfeeding participants and those trying to conceive. Its reassuring short-term findings therefore cannot establish safety for these groups. 2
