Silica

Silica is silicon dioxide, a compound of silicon and oxygen found in sand, quartz and plants such as horsetail. Supplements use it as a source of silicon.

Are all silicon compounds equivalent?

BfR distinguishes silicon compounds rather than treating them as interchangeable. Its limits refer to elemental silicon, not total product weight. 1
