What is ZMA?
ZMA combines zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6; the 2004 trial product also contained other ingredients. 1
Why study minerals for training?
Zinc contributes to protein synthesis, and magnesium supports muscle and nerve function. Those established nutrient roles provide a rationale for studying supplementation; they do not by themselves demonstrate an extra training benefit from a ZMA blend. 2 3 4

Questions people ask

The eight-week trial did not find a hormone advantage over placebo in resistance-trained men. 4
Does ZMA replace lost sleep?
It did not improve sleep or next-morning performance in the short sleep-restriction study. 5
Can I add ZMA to a multivitamin?
Overlapping ingredients matter: EFSA’s 12 mg adult vitamin B6 limit includes food and every supplement. 6
