An early blood-pressure signal
A crossover trial with 52 hypertensive participants tested 1.34 g/day for four weeks. Blood pressure fell during celery treatment; placebo showed no significant change. The small, short study supports further research, not a replacement for established treatment. 1
What about cholesterol, blood sugar and organ health?
A 51-person hypertension report found changes in cholesterol, glucose, liver enzymes and kidney-related blood tests. These measurements do not establish protection from liver or kidney disease. 2
A newer trial adds a narrower finding
In 28 people with metabolic syndrome, 150 mg/day for 12 weeks was studied against placebo. The celery group had reductions from baseline in blood pressure, triglycerides and uric acid, but no significant change in insulin sensitivity or secretion. Those within-group findings alone do not quantify benefit over placebo. 3
