Fiber
Inulin
Inulin is a soluble dietary fiber made of chains of fructose, found in chicory root, onions and garlic. Commercial inulin mostly comes from chicory.
Why can it cause bloating?
Inulin-type fructans are fermentable carbohydrates within the FODMAP group. The German Verbraucherzentrale notes that sensitive people can develop gas or diarrhea at less than 10 g daily. A dose associated with better regularity is therefore not automatically comfortable for everyone. 1
