Peptidase
Peptidase is the group name for enzymes that split proteins and peptides into smaller pieces and amino acids. They are common in digestive enzyme blends.
Do enzyme supplements help indigestion?
A 2023 randomized trial enrolled 120 adults with functional dyspepsia, persistent upper-digestive symptoms without a clear cause after assessment. A fungal multienzyme blend, 200 mg per capsule twice daily for two months, improved symptom-related quality of life, pain and sleep scores versus placebo. 1
This is useful preliminary evidence for the tested blend. It cannot identify which enzyme contributed or establish the same result for an isolated peptidase. The study reported no side effects, but its two-month duration cannot resolve long-term safety. 1
