TB-500
TB-500 is a synthetic peptide derived from thymosin beta-4, a small protein found in most human cells.
What it is studied for
The strongest rated effects first. Bars show the size of the effect, the letter grades the evidence, and each rating lists the studies behind it.
Is TB-500 the same as thymosin beta-4?
FDA’s 2026 evaluation defines TB-500 as an acetylated seven-amino-acid fragment, Ac-LKKTETQ, rather than the full-length thymosin beta-4 molecule. The added acetyl group changes chemical properties, so even studies of the unmodified fragment require caution when applied to TB-500. 1
Questions people ask
Do mouse wound findings prove human recovery benefits?
No. They concern a non-acetylated fragment in aged mice, not a clinical test of TB-500. 1 2
Do thymosin eye-drop trials validate TB-500?
No. The molecule, formulation, route and treated condition differ. 1 3
Is a safe human regimen established?
The FDA safety assessment lacks human exposure information sufficient to establish safety. 4
Is it allowed outside competition?
No. The 2026 WADA prohibition applies at all times. 5
