Fiber
Guar gum
Guar gum is a soluble dietary fiber from the seeds of the guar plant, a legume. It is widely used as a thickener in foods.
Why does the water warning matter?
The EU claim requires a choking warning for swallowing difficulties or inadequate fluid intake, with advice to use plenty of water. 1
Side effects and medicines
Gas and diarrhea can occur, especially early on. EFSA summarizes medicinal-product warnings about altered drug absorption, a two-hour separation from other medicines, and possible adjustment of diabetes medicines. 2
For information, not individual medical advice. Ingredient studies do not establish the effectiveness of these products.
