What do the gut-barrier studies show?
In a crossover trial of ten healthy volunteers, indomethacin increased intestinal permeability under placebo but not significantly with zinc-carnosine at 37.5 mg twice daily. Permeability was measured using urinary recovery of test sugars, not relief of chronic digestive symptoms. Parallel cell and rodent experiments supported repair mechanisms, but are not human treatment outcomes. 1
Does it protect the gut during exercise?
Eight volunteers completed a placebo-controlled crossover experiment lasting 14 days per condition. Zinc-carnosine alone reduced the exercise-related rise in intestinal permeability; combining it with bovine colostrum gave additional benefit. The small study provides a useful signal, not proof of heat-stroke prevention or treatment of chronic intestinal disease. 2
What about ulcers and treatment-related mouth injury?
The review reports favorable gastric-ulcer and oral-mucositis findings with varied formulations. These targeted clinical applications do not establish benefits of ordinary capsules for everyday digestive complaints. 3
